Mike,

I've emailed you directly, but I'm posting this here in case anyone else has encountered this error and knows how to work around it...

Here's the series of events as it stands...

I programmed the sound plot from my home PC, then copied all the files to my thumb drive. I brought the thumb drive to the theater and downloaded all the files to the production PC. The Production PC crashed every time it opened the .scs file from the local hard drive. The only way I could get it to work on the production PC was to run the files from the thumb drive. I had this problem using both 9.1.5a and 9.2.6.

This morning, I tried to replicate the problem with my laptop but it worked without a hitch. I also tried it on my home PC and it worked fine. But when I tried again on the production PC, it crashed again.

Then I realized that I had multiple versions of SCS running on the production PC so I decided to clean house, uninstall all versions, then reinstall 9.1.5a. That's when I discovered that I only had the minimum install set and couldn't install completely. When I went to the members area of your website, I was unable to find the download for 9.1.5a anymore, but only 9.2.6. When I tried installing 9.2.6, and opened the file on the production PC, it doesn't give me an error. It just tries to open, then immediately crashes without reporting any errors.

I have 2 rehearsals left before we open (tonight and tomorrow.) Currently, even with the reinstall, this file will only run off my thumb drive which scares me.

I hope you read this soon.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

PS - after installing 9.2.6, I was able to reinstall 9.1.5a and still no joy.

9.1.5 is back again on the Members' Page - it got lost in the transition to the new format. I've also included an 'All Executables' set for 9.1.5.

I note that from the info you sent me SCS opened an earlier cue file and then you opened your required cue file. As the failure occurred immediately after loading the required cue file, could you try this: when you start SCS hold down a Ctrl key. This will cause SCS NOT to open the last-used file. Then try opening your required cue file.

I'll also send you a version of your cue file with the preshow playlist removed. Nothing technically wrong with the playlist, but since it contains so many audio files I thought it would be worth trying with this omitted.

Fixed!

Mike,

As always, thank you for your prompt responses to my emails. As I mentioned, I have found the problem.

About the only thing I hadn't tried was to re-copy all the MP3 files back down and that turned out to be the culprit. One (or possibly some) of the MP3 files had somehow become corrupted during the first transfer.

Crisis resolved! It was not the fault of the software or the cue file.

Thanks again!
