Which Version should I get?

Post by Mr Tyke » Sun Jul 14, 2024 2:58 am

Hi Everyone,

I have a need to show video on a projector triggered from Studio One's Show Page. I have a way to send MIDI CC messages over WiFi using our stage network but I'm not sure which version of SCS to buy. Just need to show video with a static logo between songs, no DMX, no audio, just video.

The idea is that I will have MIDI CC messages generated by the Show Page running on my stage laptop when I start a particular song. Some songs are manually triggered and some just follow straight on from the previous song. This may change on a gig to gig basis as may the order.

A second laptop will be connected to the venue's projector to show on the rear wall. I'll use rtpMIDI to link the two together.

To handle cue control by MIDI you will need an SCS Professional or higher license. How do you plan to convert the network MIDI messages to some form of MIDI 'device' that SCS can read?

However, for cue control directly from a network connection then you will need SCS Professional Plus or higher. Network control in SCS doesn't handle MIDI messages but expects string commands, such as /ctrl/go.

We'll be happy to discuss this further with you - it mainly hinges on how you plan to convert the incoming network MIDI messages to an acceptable input device type and format.
