SCS Error ver 9.2.2 / 3

Mike,

Just downloaded and installed the latest version of SCS. I love the new look - until I try to load a show...

Every time I get "Error 28 Out of stack space | SCS V9.2.2 | ProcName = openSoundFile | Q=Q1 | CueFile = C:\Program Files\Sound Cue System 9\Sho...."

I tried downloading and installing on another machine (I note this is ver 9.2.3) and get exactly the same error as soon as I try to add a sound file.

Either loading an existing show or creating a new one seems to produce the same error.

Hi Allik

Try reducing both the pre-buffer and the playback buffer to 500 under Options -> Audio Driver.

Mike is investigating the problem but this seems to have helped me.

That's correct. I'm still investigating the cause, but in the meantime I plan to issue 9.2.4 this weekend that will include dropping the default buffer lengths back to 2000ms.

If you cannot get started because SCS gives 'out of stack space' on trying to open audio files for the last-used cue file or for the demo cue file, then:
  • Hold down the Ctrl Key while you start SCS to stop a cue file being automatically opened
  • Click on the menu item View / Options and then click the Audio Driver tab
  • Set the pre-buffer and playback buffer lengths to 500ms
  • Click OK to save the changes and close the Options window
  • Open your cue file or the demo cue file
You should only need to do the above once. Hopefully I'll have a permanent solution in the program itself soon.

You should find the 'out of stack space' error has been fixed in 9.2.4.
