WVD (Windows Virtual Desktop)

I've had an inquiry from someone asking if SCS can be used in a WVD environment. I don't have any experience of WVD - has anyone else used WVD, either with SCS or some other app?

I don't know, but it sounds like it's a bit like running an X-termlnal to access a remote server - SCS would be running on the remote server. Two issues spring to mind - 1: unless client & server are connected via a very fast link, there will be latency issues, and 2: where is the sound card? It would be on the remote server I would think.
It may be that WVD can feed sound back to the client, but again I would expect significant delays between firing a cue and the audio coming back to the client to be output locally. I think this would wreak havoc with the ability to accurately fire cues in response to a line said by a performer or an action on the stage.
OTOH, if this was to run a non-live production, everything pre-recorded and controlled by SCS, then that latency might not matter once the sequence had been started.
Just my four-penneth.

Thanks, Dave. Some significant matters to consider.

WVD can indeed send sound back to the client. However, it uses RDP and will be nothing like real time - if there are any switches or routers in the path between client and server then the latency and jitter will make any sort of real time cueing impossible. It might just work with a Pt-Pt Gig-E link - ie the server is in the next room.
