DAW's

Mike,
Are they any plans to support other DAW's other than BCF2000 and BCR2000 - for instance (but not limited to) the newer Bheringer X Touch series?
Or do you think they should work anyway given they run HUI and Mackie Control protocols.
Regards,
Phil Vale.

Phil, do you have an X-Touch? I tried to find info on the web regarding the message formats, etc, but couldn't. There's some indication that it may be compatible with the X32 protocol. If you have an X-Touch, do you have any specific info on message formats etc?

Mike,
I don't have one - but I was considering purchasing one for other audio stuff I do.
Bheringer produce neat products but are often skimpy on documentation. All I've found so far is that they run HUI and Mackie Control protocols.
The X-Touch Compact and X-Touch One have a little information more giving MIdi CC's- The quick start guide for the Compact is here:

Mike
I have an X-Touch, which has MCU (Mackie) output on MIDI as well as other formats. MCU seems to have the best mapping of the faders, rotary encoders and the various buttons.
It seems there isn't much in the way of documentation for the MIDI mapping. I could make a note of all the midi output (via MIDI-OX) if that would be helpful to you.

Thanks, Simon. That could be very useful. There are a lot of controls on the X-Touch so I suggest you start with what's likely to be the most useful with SCS, such as the faders, the mute button, and the encoder assign buttons. Also, any other controls you would like mapped to some SCS function.

OK. I'll send it over sometime on Monday next week.

Easier than I thought. midi log files on their way to you.

Update: SCS recognises the MIDI data for all of the buttons and encoders (when SCS is setup as MIDI Note ON in the Cue control section).
However the MIDI data for the sliders is "pitch bend" which SCS doesn't seem to recognise on the incoming midi stream. It "hears" all CC and Note data but not Pitch Bend

Alternatively, given it's a lot closer at least in looks to BCF2000 would an X-Touch Compact work?

Thanks for the info you sent me, Simon. Without being able to do a full diagnosis (as I don't have an X-Touch or an X-Touch Compact) I suspect the 'only' problem with the Pitch Bend messages is that the MIDI channel number is different for each fader. From the info supplied, it seems that all other controls (push buttons and rotary encoders) all use MIDI channel 1, but only the first fader sends it's Pitch Bend messages on channel 1.
Anyway, with the info supplied I should be able to upgrade the
External Control Surface Setup to include these main controls on the X-Touch.

Mike,
I appreciate this may be asking a lot but we'll do it anyway.
Firmware 1.15 of the X-Touch allows for flipping between controlling my X Air (via Midi) and my DAW software (via USB).
It would be really cool if I could do the same - so flip between controlling the X Air (via Midi) and SCS via USB
That way it saves me having to bring in 2 External Controllers into the theatre.
Like I say this may be a step too far for you but I thought I would ask anyway
