We are successfully able to control SCS with DMX using an Enttec USB pro interface on our theatre's main sound PC which is running Windows 7. The SCS license is professional-plus. The SCS version on that pc is 11.7.1.0
As a backup we would like to run the same set up on the theatre's sound laptop which is running SCS 11.7.1.3 again under windows 7.
The second Enttec USB pro interface is recognised under SCS control devices but will not activate. All we get is an "Cannot Open DMX port 0"
The drivers are the FTDI ones and the FTDXX drivers are installed.
Has anyone seen and resolved similar problems?
I cannot find anything about this on the SCS forum.
Your invaluable assistance would be much appreciated.
Best Regards
David Ashton

Re: Cannot open DMX port 0 error
David,
This sounds similar to a problem reported to me by another user. On investigating that issue it seems that some version(s) of the FTDI library are not returning messages starting with the DMX start code of Hex(7E) but with Hex(00). I have now modified SCS to accept either of these codes, and this modification is in SCS 11.8.0rc1, which is available from the download page in the Member area. Please try this version.
