Hot Key (Toggle) Lighting

If I set up a lantern on a Hot Key (Toggle) it works as expected but when I come to a cross fade cue that 'fades out all others' the Hot Key Lantern also fades out.
This, perhaps is to be expected, but is there a way to ignore the Toggle lantern and leave it active?
When the Toggle lantern is taken out as above the indication on the Hot Key Bank doesn't get updated so it is now out of sequence.
