Optimal amount to preopen

Hey guys,
Just wanted to check what amount of audio/video/image to pre-open is optimal for you?
I mostly run pretty beefy machines with more than enough ram so in the beginning i thought the more the better.
But i found that especcialy with soundchecking before the show (skipping fast past big parts of the show) having a lot of stuff pre opend ofcourse slows things down pretty much and sometimes comes at a stability cost.
Having pre-open very little if come across situations where a next track/video/file fails to fade in and remains black.
What do you guys have as you're optimal amount of pre-open files?
