Triggering simultaneous files

Post by AudioBoyMA » Mon Mar 31, 2014 2:25 pm

I'm working on a production of "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" that's coming up next week. If you're familiar with the show, there's a sequence in the third act where the main characters are trying to find the source of some music, played by different instruments, which are layered one on another, until the entire piece is being played. In order to do this, I had to make an arrangement of the music and record each instrument separately. My idea was to have SCS play all the track cues at once, but with the volume down on all of them except the first. That way I could "add" each instrument simply by fading up each cue as needed.

However, I can't seem to get SCS to trigger all four cues at once. I've tried doing them as auto-plays off the first cue, but only the first cue and one other will play. No combination seems to get all four to play at once.

I'm using the most recent version of SCS (11.2.5) on a 2012 MacBook Pro running Win7 on BootCamp.

Suggestions?

Hi

I have just checked this out and if you make the first track a normal manuel start and all the other tracks as auto start and select 0:00 time then in the drop boxes select the following "after start of cue" & "previous cue"
This should work fine.

For syncing files it's important that all the files have the same duration - even if your enforce this by setting an identical 'end at' time for the cues (assuming they also have the same 'start at' times).

If neither this nor Peter's suggestion help, please email me a diagnostic dump file. You can create this file by starting SCS and selecting 'Create Diagnostic Dump File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Dumps" under "Documents" or "My Documents". It may help if you create this diagnostic dump after you start these cues.

So, just to follow up, I redid everything:
  • I re-rendered the tracks, making sure they were all the exact same length
I made the first track a primary cue, with the rest as sub-cues
I saved, quit, and restarted the program
I quit and restarted several times to confirm
And it worked perfectly. Thank you both for all your help!
