jumping cues in SCS 9 (fix in 9.1.4)

Post by paul gardner » Mon May 01, 2006 12:22 am

I am now running my second show on SCS 8, and I am very pleased with the results. We have a lot of linked and/or overlapped cues, including hot keys, and they run very well. I decided to try SCS 9 at home, to check it out before buying the upgrade, which I fully expect to do. I like the improvements. However, there is one problem that I can't seem to get around.

When I run my cue list (and I've seen it in the demo too) I find that the program will sometimes either skip or jump backwards to fint a "next cue". For example, I start cue 4, and the program jumps forward to highlight cue 7 as the next one (and that's the one that starts if I right click the mouse). It marks cues 5 and 6 as completed. Alternatively, it might jump back to cue 1 or 2. This problem does not appear to happen if I use the option for the space bar start of cues, and it is MUCH worse (like every cue fails) if I set up the mouse for left-handed use (my normal mode).

Needless to say, I would not feel comfortable using this in a live show. I haven't tried the program on my laptop yet, as I would rather not disturb a known good configuration until after this show is over at the end of next week.

I really like the playlist feature. We don't have much in the way of intemission music in this show, but I've done others where that would be a great tool. I'm looking forward to using the new version with all its features.

I'm having the same problem both on my laptop and the show control computers at Movie World (We're still running the demo version of 9 at the park until I re-program the shows to make use of the new features)

I find that the problem is intermittent for me. Sometimes it will jump cues and other times it will work perfectly.

This 'jumping' occurs if you right-click to activate the GO button while the mouse is over the grid in the upper part of the Run screen. This will be fixed in 9.1.4.

Glad to hear this. The problem was causing me some anguish in demonstrating effects to the director this week! As a matter of interest I have been exploring other screen areas to see if they cause the same problem, but have not found any yet.
