MIDI Program Change over 128

Hello, everybody!
We have just started using SCS at a large theater, connected with a Yamaha PM5D mixer. This mixer provides 500 mixer scenes. Our workaround requires that the playback system (that is SCS now) recalls cue-related mixing scenes by sub-cues. At the Yamaha mixer the scenes are recalled by MIDI program change messages. This works quite fine, but only for the first 128 scenes!
Our problem: We cannot find a way to make SCS send program change messages over 128. Of cause not, because it is MIDI.
BUT: In our former playback system (Ableton Live) we could solve this by adding bank numbers to the program change messages. So bank 1 was scenes 1-128, bank 2 was 129-256 etc.
How can we solve this in SCS? I cannot believe that we can use only 1/4 of our scenes in the future!
Best regards

Hallo Sebastian,
does the PM5 send the bank messages? Then You should try to capture them as free form MIDI message. Or You enter them by hand.
Your name sounds like You are sitting in Germany. If You like, You can call me, I'll send You a PM with my phone number.

Adding the bank number is a good suggestion, so I'll look into that. Meanwhile, I recommend Jörg's solution as he has used MIDI with SCS for several years, particularly with free form messages.

Hi,
I am picking up this old Topic cause I'm in the same situaltion right now.
I try to use more than 127 Scenes on our Yamaha LS9 to call SCS cues. The LS9 provides two ways to realize this with MIDI, with Banks as Jörg mentioned and by using more than one Midi channel for the Program Change commands (channel 1 Program Change 1-128 = scene 1-128,chanal 2 Program Change 1-128 = scene 129-256 and so on).
But I could not figure out how to use one of these methods in SCS yet.
Jörg mentioned to enter the messages by hand but I do no know where to do so and did not find anythig regarding to this in the documentation. Was this only possible in older SCS Versions?
Does somebody know how o realize this?
Regards Veit

Hi Veit and all,
in the editor:
- set up a Control Send Cue
- in the Message Typ field select "MIDI Free Format"
- enter the needed values in the MIDI Message field or
- select a MIDI port for capture
- click on "Capture Next MIDI Message"
- trigger the MIDI message You want to capture on the connected device
For using different MIDI channels for program changes:
- set up a Control Send Cue
- in the Message Typ field select "MIDI Program Change"
- in the now appearing fields enter MIDI channel number and scene number

Hello Jörg,
Thank you for your detailed instructions. That sounds really straightforward.
Unfortunately I now realized that I misunderstood the initial post. I try to do it exactly the other way around. I want to trigger SCS from the mixing console. So I want to start a Cue in SCS when mixing scene 129 is loaded.
In the Cue Control device options I didn't find something similar to what you described for the Control Send Cues.
Is there a way to realize this, too?
Regards Veit

Hallo Veit,
I'm afraid there is no way to trigger cues with program change messages with values above 128. Anyway, I prefer the method to let SCS control anything, and i use control messages to move the faders. Since You have an LS9, this might be an alternative?
