Has anybody tried connecting a computer running SCS directly to the Yamaha 01V96i console via USB?

Did such a connection work? Is it possible to get at least 8 channels of playback from SCS directly into the console via that USB connection?

Just downloaded the manual for your mixer and had a look. Read through the Owners manual pages 41 & 42 where it talks about monitoring the output from your DAW. Information there should be relevant.

I've read the user manual, including pages 41-42. I know in theory it should all work.
We are considering purchasing the 01V96i for our theater. Just looking for somebody who has access to this console and could actually confirm that SCS worked.

Re: Connecting SCS to a Yamaha 01V96i Console
I just tried it out. Maybe you got you're answer already because it has been a while since you posted your question
This week I got my hands on a 01V96i and I was only able to get 2 channels of audio back from SCS (v11.0.1). Other programs (like Logic, and Qlab3 on our Mac, and Adobe Audition 3 on our Windows machine) were able to recognize the full 16 channels Yamaha is promising.
I downloaded and installed the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver (v1.8.0) which offers an ASIO driver. Reading the manual I supposed this driver functions just like any other ASIO driver, but SCS doesn't seem to think so.
Am I missing something? Is there someone who's got the full 16chan (or 8chan) playback working? Please let me now.

Re: Connecting SCS to a Yamaha 01V96i Console
I suspect the problem is that in SCS you are using the default audio driver which is DirectSound, and that the Yamaha driver only supports 2 channels of WDM/DirectSound. I can't verify this because I don't have an 01V96i. If my assumption is correct, try changing the SCS Audio Driver to 'ASIO (using BASS)'. See Production Properties - Audio Output Devices for more info.techniekhofplein wrote:This week I got my hands on a 01V96i and I was only able to get 2 channels of audio back from SCS (v11.0.1).
