Sudden Level Increase !!!!!! (fix in 10.9.4)
Hi Mike.
I discovered a horrible bug after I updated to 10.9.3, the hard way, during a show.
I ‘m using left and right arrow keys to adjust the level of playing cues.
As I decreased the volume of a cue using left arrow, 5-6 seconds later (I’ m not using the internal mixer with my laptop, so the buffers are set to 5000ms), a sudden level increase of 12db or more occurred at right channel. Totally distorted of course. You can imagine how horrific that was. Not to mention how dangerous, for the health of my P.A. system, the health of the audience and my own mental health. At first I thought it was a console problem, but it happened again next time I used the shortcut.
I reproduced the problem at home, and it is happening every time. I found out that mono speaker assignments are not affected.
I had the same results with v. 11b16 (I guess the bug migrated from there)
Please Mike, have a close look on this. In my opinion this is a very serious bug. See if you can reproduce the problem in your system too. Maybe there’s something wrong in my system.
I’m going back to 10.9.2 till we have a fix on this.
(By the way. In “Download Archives”, only 10.9.3 is available. Can you please upload previous versions too.)
Thanks
Fanis Tsirakis

Re: Sudden Level Increase !!!!!!
Hi Fanis Tsirakis
Just thought I would post that I have 10.9.3 running and have the same setup for fading up and down tracks that are playing and I have not had anything happen as you discribe the only difference I can tell from yourself is that i am not using the internal mixer.
Just going to to check.
Yes the problem occurs when you are not using the internal mixer and as you say it's very loud.
Mike, over to you for this one.

Re: Sudden Level Increase !!!!!!
Hmm. Yes, that's a serious problem which I'll look at tomorrow (it's nearly 11:30pm here). Thanks for the additional info, Peter.
Re: Sudden Level Increase !!!!!!
I have EXACTLY the same issue! and I found out about it EXACTLY the same way. Changing the level of a cue causes the right channel to suddenly jump to peak and stay there!
This happened right after I upgraded to 10.9.3. Please address ASAP! I have downgraded until this issue is resolved.

Re: Sudden Level Increase !!!!!!
Same symptoms but in Editor after dragging the level down. Both left & right channels are affected - but it is a mono file so that's hardly surprising. If I leave it running long enough, the level can jump back up again.
Clearly the same problem but I offer this extra info in case it helps with your analysis Mike.

Re: Sudden Level Increase !!!!!!
I've withdrawn SCS 10.9.3 and reinstated 10.9.2 as the latest version. I'm looking into this issue now.

Re: Sudden Level Increase !!!!!!
Fix available.
A fix for this bug is now available in SCS 10.9.4 RC1 (Release Candidate 1) which can be downloaded from the Members' Download page. Could each of you who has posted to this topic please try this version.
I sincerely apologize for the error, but it had not been picked up during the 10.9.3 Release Candidate phase or earlier.
A few users have already been provided with a pre-release of 10.9.4 but please note that the changes included in that pre-release have now been deferred to 10.9.5. The ONLY change between 10.9.3 and the new 10.9.4 RC1 is the fix for the bug raised in this topic.

Re: Sudden Level Increase !!!!!! (fix in 10.9.4)
THANKS for fixing this!!
I had updated to 10.9.3 a while ago. I just finished load-in for a show and during sound check I came across this big problem and lost my composure. However I checked online and saw it was fixed with 10.9.4. I installed it and the problem went away and the show can go on.
Big Appreciation for the fast fix,
Brontoy
