Telnet

Hi,

I have been using SCS for a couple of years and I think it's great. I have a show coming up later in the year where as well as sound cues, I also want to control a couple of video screens. I'm looking to use Telnet because using Ethernet means no MIDI or serial port converters and up to 100m cable length.

I see from the 10.7.3 version announcement that "If SCS is setup as a Telnet Server, one and only one client connection is supported." Are there any plans to support multiple clients from a single server so that I can drive 2 video screens from a single instance of SCS?

I don't want this to imply that MIDI can do anything near what telnet can do but there is a common misconception that MIDI is necessarily as restricted in transmission length as the official spec suggests. Please see our FAQ on this subject: http://www.richmondsounddesign.com/faq.html#midilen

Cheers!

No plans at present. I am planning to add Control Send devices to the new Device Mapper, so I'll consider this request when I do that. The Device Mapper has been added in SCS 10.8 but initially it will only handle audio output devices.
