Loop commands
Loop commands
Will SCS currently allow breaking out of loop A and into a new loop B on a midi command, but only when the loop A has completed to it's end point, not immediately the midi command is sent? Ultimately I'm looking for something to play four or more loops sequentially in a post-arranged (IOW live) order from midi commands sent prior to each loop completing to it's end point.
Last time I looked a this SCS couldn't select a 'previous' loop in the cue list just 'subsequent' cue order, other than midi triggered spot cues which lacked the 'until completed' aspect before the next loop, just immediate playback and possibly/probably overlapping playback.

Re: Loop commands
There's no facility to break out of a loop when completed - but I'll consider that as a Feature Request.
Not sure what you mean by SCS couldn't select a 'previous' loop in the cue list just 'subsequent' cue order.... Could you give an example of what you want to do?
btw, what's IOW live?

Re: Loop commands
Play a number of loops sequentially in any order from midi commands, ie. each loop must complete to it's end point before the next commences but the midi command for commencement of the next loop will be given during the last repeat of the previous loop.Mike Daniell wrote:There's no facility to break out of a loop when completed - but I'll consider that as a Feature Request.

IOW = in other words, so 'live' like spot fx but unlike those, no loops would be able play at the same time (unless preprogrammed to do so).

Re: Loop commands
Thanks for the extra info. I'll treat this as a Feature Request as the functionality is not currently available.
Should have realised IOW was a message acronym! My first interpretation on seeing IOW is "Isle of Wight" (in the UK).

Thanks. Any idea when it will be available?Mike Daniell wrote:Thanks for the extra info. I'll treat this as a Feature Request as the functionality is not currently available.

Re: Loop commands
I thought that SCS can be set to do the following:
Loop a cue.
Next GO, make the action to release the loop and play until the end.
Set a sub cue to trigger a new loop cue when the previous loop has ended.
Isn't that what the OP is seeking, or did I misread?

Re: Loop commands
The 'release loop' facility is available for a looped sub-cue but what's being requested here is a facility to release the loop of a series of cues, ie a set of cues that ends with a 'go to' cue back to the first cue of the loop.Eric Snodgrass wrote:I thought that SCS can be set to do the following:

Not sure when the feature will be implemented - there are a few sequencing issues that need to be sorted out and some other mods in the pipeline.

Re: Loop commands
I see. After a re-read, it seems the OP wants something like the instant playback flexibility of an Instant Replay machine, where he can choose any sound effect as needed in his live situation, but also wanting the looping capabilities offered by SCS and then needing some type of cue that will release it from the loop, let the cue finish and have whatever cue he chooses play next.
It sounds to me like something very useful for audience reaction sweetening, which is done on television shows quite often. The ability of SCS to be able to do this would really be interesting.
Having just tested something out with the Hot Keys, I see that loops can easily be played in any order, but the RELEASE cue that corresponds to the playing looped cue must be hit, and once it is hit it then disappears and doesn't reset on the cue list. Wouldn't the coding trick, then, be to make a RELEASE/STOP cue that could work on any currently playing cue and would still stay ready even after being used?
