What do I have to do to create a pause + resume key with the X-Keys Desktop Macro Editor? Alt + u doen't work. What is wrong?
Alle other things are running very well with SCS :-)

When you say that Alt+U doesn't work, does it work OK directly from the keyboard - ie is this just an issue with trying to get the X-Keys to send Alt+U?

Yes, from the keyboard it works perfect!

Does anyone have an idea where the problem could be? Is nobody here using the X-Keys for pause/resume??

Are you actually programming the key sequence correctly? From the Product Manual
When typing key combinations, it is very important to get the sequence correct. Just as typing an uppercase C requires that the C key is pressed before the Shift key is released, so does the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C require the C to be pressed before the Ctrl key is released. If the Ctrl key is released before the C key is pressed, the X-keys will record them as separate keystrokes, and not a key combination.
The same will apply with the Alt key. Perhaps you are releasing the keys in the wrong order when programming.

Just a thought.

Can you make the Shift and Ctrl combinations work?

Thanks for this hint! I will try it this evening and let you know if it works!

I tried to do it yesterday and I found a pre-defined macro for Multimedia Pause/Resume which seems to mean Alt+u. It works very well, so i did no longer try to get alt+u working ;)

Thanks for the help!

I watched your postings with interest because, coincidentally, I was considering getting an X-keys to use with SCS. I have now got one and have had the same problem as you with Alt+u. I see how you got round this mysterious problem by using the Multimedia Play/Pause option but I found that if multiple cues are playing this function will only pause the first cue but leave the rest running.

I’ve found another way round it but you have to ditch the Ribbon Bar in SCS (which I don’t use anyway) by un-selecting it in Display Options. Then record Alt+c (to get the Cue Control drop-down menu), then Down (to get to Pause All), then Return (to select). This combination pauses ALL playing cues and sub-cues (in other words the same action as Alt+u) and does work with my X-keys.

If you ever find out why Alt+u does not work with X-keys/SCS I’d be really interested to know.

Purely as an interested observer, can I ask if you can make the other keyboard combinations work, e.g. Shift + Num Pad Subtract for Master Fader Mute, Ctrl + Left Arrow (Right Arrow) for Previous Image/Cue (Next Image/Cue) ?
It may be that X-keys does not present key combinations in a way that SCS understands.

Well, I have Master Fader Mute programmed in and it works fine along with all the ‘single key’ commands and the combination for Pause All I described above. As for Ctrl+Left & Right Arrow (which I have just tried) they don’t appear to work although I have never tried to understand the difference between Next/Previous Image and Cue List Up/Down One Row (Up/Down Arrow) - I’m sure there is a difference but they both seem to do the same thing.

I’m sure you’re right that X-keys sends key combinations in a way that SCS (and, for all I know, other applications) can’t recognise.
