Hi

I have run into a problem last night during a cue to cue. The audio that I am playing sounds like it is studdering or skipping. Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be??

This is probably due to "buffer underrun", which means the program is not filling the playback buffer fast enough from disk. You should find this will be fixed if you choose not to use the SCS internal mixer. The default playback buffer size when using the internal mixer is 200ms (it has to be short), but when not using the internal mixer the default playback buffer size is 5000ms.

Set the required options as follows:
  • Click on General Options / Permanent Options
  • Click on the Audio Driver tab
  • Select Do NOT use SCS internal mixer
  • Make sure the buffering and update options on this tab are all set to SCS default...
Then click OK to save the changes, and close and restart SCS.

I experienced this too at a rehearsal tonight - I have made the changes suggested and will check it at tomorrows rehearsal. It does appear to have limited how I view the wave display options - is it connected somehow?

Which wave display option are you using, Sue, and how many devices do you have defined in your Production Properties?

Just back from rehearsal - not a judder or stutter to be found - a very useful piece of info. Thank you.

Regarding the second part of my query

If I am loooking in the right place, I have 2 physical devices showing in the production properties 1. Speaker/Headphones (IDT High Definition A) and 2. Independent (RTC) Headphones (IDT High D) There si also a no device option.

In the dispaly options I was using frequeny bars which since making the changes above is no longer a highlighted option - the only option is VU levels.

Regards

Sue
