Re: SCS Mixer Control for muting/unmuting channels

Post by Mike Daniell » Sat May 15, 2021 12:24 pm

Following up on my earlier posting about modifying SCS to simplify the cues for certain external mixer actions (such as muting/unmuting mic channels), sometime next week I expect to have a pre-release available of a version of SCS that will include this feature. This will use a supplied external file that contains command formats for various mixer operations for various mixer types. This external file will be distributed with SCS, and updates to this file may be separately distributed as additional operations and mixer types are included. Initially I have just included support for A&H Qu and SQ series mixers, using the MIDI interface. Once this is confirmed as stable I will add other mixer brands, etc, to the supplied file. If you are interested in testing a pre-release of this new version and have an SCS Professional Plus or higher license, please contact me and tell me what mixer you are using. Here's a screenshot with an example of setting up one of these cues.

This seems like a very helpful feature. Thank you.
I see you've added Behringer X Air Series but not the X32.
Can I use the X Air settings on X32? Do they use the same MIDI commands?
If not, can you add the X32? It's extremely polular and will help a lot of people :D

It's a while ago that I looked into this but I recall having difficulty getting the MIDI to work with the X32. I didn't spend a lot of time on that as SCS already has good network support of the X32 - although you will need an SCS Professional Plus license to use this. See Control Send - Network for more info.

I do have access to an X32 so I'll have another look at providing MIDI control. Has anyone reading this already successfully used SCS MIDI Control Send cues to control an X32?

Mike,
I've just run through all the CC sends for muting the X32 and they work fine. Basically you send a CCxx on midi channel 2 with value 127 to mute and 0 to unmute, with the exception of the Mute groups where the 'polarity' is reversed.
The relevant xx values are:
0-31 Channels 1-32
32-37 Aux 1-6
38-39 USBL+R
40-47 FX1L thru FX4R
48-63 Bus 1-16
64-69 Matrix 1-6
70 LR
71 M/C
72-79 DCA 1-8
80-85 Mute groups 1-6 (reversed polarity!)

Cue, Snippet and Scene control using Program Change commands also work OK per Behri's documentation.

Thanks, Dave. I've emailed you a new version of the external file that includes these additions for the X32.

Mike,

Many thanks, mostly works fine, I've emailed you about the mute groups.
