Due to a change of operating system on my laptop I have to look at a major change in my set up. I was using SCS on XP with Soundblaster Audigy software and Creative 7:1 speakers.
Now moved to Win 10 & Audigy will not run. So. A change is coming up. Would any one care to put forward some set-ups that would work?
I would like to keep the 7 surround speakers if possible, even if it means using a different sub.
Thanks
Chris.

Re: Change of configuration
Have you checked to see if there are Windows 10 updates to software and drivers from Creative for your Audigy setup?
Re: Change of configuration
Yes, I have checked. But have not been able to find any.
I was using Audigy 2NX. Approx 2003. It's done an admirable job.
Am looking in to various options, using a DAC to go straight from laptop to a pair of speakers, it will mean losing the 'surround' facility, which has been useful. It allows a lower general level of volume and more even throughout the village hall where it is used, rather than having it rather loud for the people at the front so that the people at the rear can hear it ok.
Another option is the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi HD (5.1)
I was hoping someone might be able to suggest a set up involving an 8 or 12 channel mixing desk which would give us some additional flexibility for the future
Regards
Chris

Re: Change of configuration
I have an Allen&Heath Qu16 that works very well with SCS via the USB B port on the Qu console. The Qu has four mono and four stereo outputs. Each output has its own delay so you can time-align your speakers throughout the venue. It has a small footprint and can be controlled by an app on a tablet, allowing the engineer to walk the space and tweak.
If you don't need faders but instead just are using this for playback in a permanent install type situation you might want to look at the Allen&Heath Qu-Pac or a Qu-SB, both of which are basically a Qu-16 without faders. Each one can be mounted in a rack. The SB requires a tablet app to be controlled. The Qu-Pac can be controlled via the app or the surface (if your tablet is broken during an event). If this is an install where folks without technical skills might be using it, all the Qu mixers can be controlled via the Qu Control App which can be configured with simple controls so anyone can use it effectively.
