I've been happy with the Behringer FCA610. It has 8 balanced outputs plus 2 digital outputs, 4 balanced inputs plus 2 digital.

You can see the available video audio selections in my previous screen shot, and I've been able to use these DirectSound outputs for video along with ASIO outputs for audio cues in the same production.

I've never used the inputs. As far as I can tell, inputs 1 and 2 can be mixed directly into outputs 1 and 2 by the interface. If you want to do anything more sophisticated than that with the inputs you'll need some mixer software, or if you want the inputs to feed through SCS I believe you need to own the SoundMan Server software.

The FCA610 also has MIDI in/out, which I've tested with SCS and it worked though I haven't needed to use it in a production yet.

Amazon reviews for the FCA610 mention a number of failures, but both of mine have been running for 2 years now with no problems.

Tim.

The Roland Octa-Capture may be another possibility. I can't check this myself at the moment, but I've contacted another SCS user who runs SCS with SoundMan-Server (which is necessary for live inputs) and a Roland Octa-Capture, and he is going to check this out.

We have used the Roland UA-1010 also called the Roland Octa-Capture since it came out with SCS and it has been rock steady , also have used the Soundman server SCS addon to use inputs.

Chad, you say in your original post "I have the SCS Professional Plus license." and in one of your last posts, you say you want to use live inputs.

Do you also have a licensed (not demo) version of SoundMan-Server from SCS? The version of SCS you have will support SMS but you'll need a license for it too.

The demo version of SMS only supports 2 inputs, 2 outputs, and 4 playbacks. Not nearly enough per your request.

Licensed versions from SCS support a number of live inputs, outputs, and playbacks - http://www.showcuesystems.com/cms/pricing custom versions are also available.

For without that little bit of inexpensive software you can't do "live Inputs" and control them from within SCS.

It's my understanding that SCS only supports live inputs using the SMS Audio engine.

I have used SCS with SMS for a long time.

Please advise.

Best to you and yours,

SoundMan-Server is required by SCS if you want to use Live Input Cues. See Live Input Cues in the Help for details.

But I should be able to do multiple audio outputs with a USB device without soundman, correct?

Yes, so long as your Sound card has multiple outputs and you have the correct level of SCS

Correct. The issue is that the drivers for some multi-output devices limit you to two DirectSound outputs.

In SCS you can use either ASIO or DirectSound for audio output devices (and therefore for audio file cues). So for audio file cues you can use all available outputs.

However, video audio is always played via DirectSound, regardless of the audio driver selected for audio devices. This is solely a limitation imposed by the video playback libraries used by SCS. So for video audio if you want access to outputs other than 1-2 (or L-R) then you will need to use an audio interface that supports more than two DirectSound outputs. The Roland Octa-Capture (or UA-1010) is one such audio interface device, and from BritGreek's earlier posting it seems the Behringer FCA610 is another suitable device.
