I am a potential novice when it comes to using this wonderful software.
I have inadvertently gone and installed SCS 11.6 one our theatres PC, without realizing that it is still a Beta version. It works well and all the problems we seem to have encountered with SCS 11.2 seem to have vanished.
My question is- Should I go back to SCS 11.5.3 (as it is considered by you as stable) or stay with the SCS 11.6 version?
If I downgrade, a further few questions spring to mind:-
1) Do I uninstall version SCS 11.6 and install SCS 11.5.3 or just install the previous software over the top?
What happens to the LAVFilters files that were installed if I downgrade? Do they stay there or do I need to remove them also?
2) Can I install SCS11.5.3 as well as keeping SCS11.6 by installing it in a different folder? If so will LAVFilters still work?
Any constructive comments would be Welcome

If 11.6 is working well for you you could stay with that. However, if you would rather revert to 11.5.3 then that would be a 'safer' option.thecrescent wrote:Should I go back to SCS 11.5.3 (as it is considered by you as stable) or stay with the SCS 11.6 version?
No need to uninstall - just install the required version.thecrescent wrote:If I downgrade, a further few questions spring to mind:-

Definitely keep LAVFilters. SCS 11.5.3 needs them as well (for videos) and prior to 11.6.0 installing LAVFilters was a separate install, not integrated into the SCS install.thecrescent wrote:What happens to the LAVFilters files that were installed if I downgrade? Technically yes. But the option to select an installation folder has only been added in the SCS 11.6.0 setup files. So if you run the SCS 11.5.3 setup file it will not give you the option to select an installation folder.thecrescent wrote:2) Can I install SCS11.5.3 as well as keeping SCS11.6 by installing it in a different folder? Re: Install previous version of SCS
Thanks Mike for getting back to me so prompt. I think for the time being I will stick with SCS 11.6 as it seems to work so well with Sound and AV.
My colleague has one minor problem today (SCS 11'6 version) when saving. It said something to the effect of Sque 28 error. Also when he clicked on save it did not want to do it and said it wanted to do a sanity check. I thought about it for a while and decided to get rid of queue 29 that faded queue 28 out and then delete queue 28. This allowed me to save the show. I then went back and did redo's on queue 28 and queue 29. This allowed me to save the show again.
Happy man.
Do I assume he could have created a sub queue under 28 and deleted it but left invisible code behind, which did not compute to be saved?

Not sure what could have caused this. SCS checks the validity of cue and sub-cue deletions before accepting them, but possibly some condition has slipped through, only to be caught in the full check when 'Save' was requested.
