Still/Video toggle
Hi All,
I have been thinking about this too much now and cannot get a clear idea in my head as to the best way forward.
I am projecting a still image, I want to be able to switch to a video loop, using a hotkey toggle, which will play for a certain amount of time then I then want to toggle back to the original image. It is for a song where there is an upbeat section that I would like to switch between the still and video with nice crossfade. I appreciate this could be timed but as this is for a live show, it's tricky to guarantee the tempo that the song will be played at.
I hope this is understandable!
Regards

Re: Still/Video toggle
You can achieve most of this by specifying the still image as a 'logo image' - see Set as the 'logo' image under Video/Image Cues - Still Images. From your description I guess you only need this logo image for one song. In that case you will need to clear the logo image at the end of the song. To do that you can set up another 'logo' image at the end of the song, possibly with just a black image.
Unfortunately SCS doesn't provide a crossfade for this. You can have the logo image fade in, but currently not crossfade.

Joe,
I do not know how to do this with one toggle key
Can you use two trigger keys?

Lluís

Re: Still/Video toggle
Mike,
I've created a test production to try to do what Joe asked and I've found some problems.
1.- Cues with key trigger are never preloaded, that adds a little delay on triggering.
May be helpful to have a checkbox in the cue setup or in Options to force preload.
2.- If the video loop cue is playing, trigger the still image do not crossfades, the video loop stops and the still image starts fadding in.
Probably there is a very complex solution if the crossfade to still image starts when the video has not enougth time to crossfade without restarting the loop.
Tested with 11.6.0rc8 x64

Thanks for your input. I'm pleased that it wasn't me just being slow. I will just have to think of another way to achieve this.

Lluís, could you email me that cue file (or a diagnostic file)?Buyaicia wrote:I've created a test production to try to do what Joe asked and I've found some problems.
That's a bug! The video file should have been pre-loaded unless the Production Run Time property 'Do NOT Pre-Load Video Hotkey Cues' was set (which by default it is not). I've reproduced that problem and have a fix ready.Buyaicia wrote:1.- Cues with key trigger are never preloaded, that adds a little delay on triggering.

Re: Still/Video toggle
Hi Mike,
This is something I wanted to try on the tour I am on now.
I can work around it, for the moment, but it was because this musical bridge happened several times in the song, I was just looking for a way of repeating something on a toggle rather than having to build a large Cue stack.
A slightly different topic if i may. The new video support on the current version is certainly a step up, although on a couple of times I have had a message that TVG has not been able to load a video. The show is very image/video intensearch, could this be a memory issue on the latop I am using?
Regards
Joe

Re: Still/Video toggle
Is your laptop 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64)? The 64-bit version of SCS and TVG handles much larger video resources, eg holding more video files open.
Re: Still/Video toggle
I will need to read again the User manual to refresh all SCS options in my memoryMike Daniell wrote:The video file should have been pre-loaded unless the Production Run Time property 'Do NOT Pre-Load Video Hotkey Cues' was set (which by default it is not)

Yes, it is fixed in 11.6.0as release.
