Device map

Post by Richard Simpson » Sat Mar 11, 2017 2:31 am

Hi all

Using RC8, with the device map toolbar icon.

I have a new midi box to send control cues which works nicely. If I open an old cue list should I be able to load this new device map in to it? I have called it USBGo Box and this name only appears in a the new cue list where I set it up and doesn't appear in any other previous list.

Regards Richard

Device maps are always cue-file-specific. They allow you to have different device assignments for different venues (as an example). This is primarily so you can have different device maps for home and theatre.

In SCS 11.6 there are two ways you can achieve what you want:
  • In the Editor, click on the Production button and select Import Devices from another SCS Cue File. Find a cue file that does contain a device for the new midi box, and then select that device (only) and click on Import Selected Devices.
  • Alternatively, open a cue file that has the new device map (USBGo Box) and then in the main SCS window click the Templates button and Create a new template from the current cue file. Templates are designed to allow you to create cue files using cues and (especially) devices that you want to use for many productions. You can then create a new cue file from that template, so the new cue file will include a device map with this new device. See the Templates page in the SCS 11.6.0 Help for more info - the topic is under the heading The Load Production' Window.
