Midi Mic Mute on Soundcraft Vi1 desk

Post by sjwicks » Tue Feb 21, 2017 6:57 am

I will need to use a Soundcraft Vi1 desk for my next show.
Has anyone been successful with muting / unmuting each channel with Midi?

I know the scenes can be been set to "go" via midi, but I would prefer to create each "mic scene" in SCS and then send the programme changes to the mixing desk to mute and unmute the individual mic channels.

The last time I tried (2 years ago) I couldn't mute the channel strip and had to resort to the creating scenes during tech.
Thanks

I've just downloaded the Soundcraft Vi1 User Guide and unfortunately from what I've read I can't see any way for you to mute/unmute individual channels by MIDI from SCS (or from anything else). As you found in your last attempt, it seems that the Vi1 desk only links incoming MIDI to 'cues', where a 'cue' contains one or more 'snapshots'. My understanding of this is that the 'snapshot' may contain details of channel mutes, etc.

Thanks Mike. I came to the same conclusion, which is shame. I was hoping for an improvement in their Midi control.
