Post by chriswilm » Tue Mar 25, 2014 9:08 pm

Hi

Read various posts about driving more than 1 set of speakers, Creative Soundblaster Live! , ESI Gigaport etc

Has anyone tried this box ? For laptop use

Thanks

Digital and Analog 7.1 Channel Audio

This USB Sound Card supports analog and digital audio. It will support simple 2 channel stereo, and just as easily push out 7.1 channel audio. Instead of taking the time and money to open your computer and put in a PCI sound card, The SoundBox will turn your laptop or desktop into a home theater-ready audio solution.

Record in Stereo

The two microphone inputs provide a solution for any audio application requiring multi-input capability. The SoundBox supports 44.1 KHz and 48 KHZ sampling rates for recording and playback.

Small and compact for portability; about the size of a deck of cards
Full analog 7.1 audio through 3.5mm jacks
Digital 7.1 audio supported through Fiber Optic S/PDIF input and output
Record in Stereo through 2 Microphone inputs
Easy-to-use volume control buttons
Full-duplex recording and playback
Analog supports 48/44.1 KHz sample rate for both recording and playback (S/PDIF in and out only support 48 KHz sample rate)
Uses

Upgrade the sound card on your laptop or desktop to support full 7.1 audio, for games, music, movies, etc.
Record using full stereo
Turn your computer into a great Home-Theater PC
...and Anything else you can think of

I have something almost exactly like this.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6829131001

But I can't get it to output anything but the front 2 speakers. I could be doing something wrong. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Could you email me a diagnostic file? You can create this file by selecting 'Create Diagnostic File' from the drop-down menu displayed when you click the Help button in the main window. The file will be saved in a folder named "SCS Diagnostics" under "Documents" or "My Documents". Make sure the device is connected before starting SCS to create this diagnostic file.

I have the same problem with a similar cheap 7.1 USB external box

CSL - USB 7.1 Soundkarte extern 8-Kanal - Channel USB Soundbox
https://www.amazon.de/CSL-Soundkarte-La ... 83Z88DVJMQ

I use Windows 7, had installed the appropriate driver and could adress the outputs via the SystemTray.
But in <SCS Professional Plus V 11.8.32 (x64) Build 2020-10-26 / 9:22> it shows up as 3-USB MultiChannel with only 2 Channels selectable.

I tried different <DirectSound with/without BASS mixer> driver options without any change -
<Force enabling of speaker assignment> is set,
<Do not use floating point> doesn't care,
<Do not use WASAPI> doesn't care

Could you please help me with the correct settings or is this Soundbox not compatible to SCS
Thanks for your help

A log file will have been created and saved in a folder named "SCS Logs" under "Documents", and the name of the file includes a time-stamp indicating when the log started. Please email me a relevant log file.

Resolved:

Thank you so much Mike for getting that device running, meaning all 8 channels could be seen and used.

After a small change in SCS ( SCS11.8.4aa), the following points could be found out:

> The device has to be configured as a 7.1 device in the Windows Control Panel <Sound> setup.
> This 7.1 device requires WASAPI, not DirectSound, so in the SCS Audio Driver Options, the checkbox 'Do NOT use WASAPI' must be CLEAR.
> It supports ASIO using ASIO4All or MagixLowLatency2016 drivers but not using the Generic Low Latency ASIO or the ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver.
Mike's comments regarding ASIO/ASIO4All are:
> If the audio interface supported ASIO then I would recommend using ASIO as the audio driver in SCS. However, since your audio interface does not directly support ASIO, I recommend using WASAPI, but...
> ASIO4ALL is basically a package that enables ASIO-only software to send audio to a DirectSound or WASAPI device, which means that ASIO4ALL is an extra layer in the processing. However, reviews indicate that ASIO4ALL does not seem to add anything to latency, so if you prefer to have SCS use ASIO then that's fine.

I hope, that helps other users who have a similar issue.
