X32 Cue control and Hot Keys

Post by sclg » Thu Dec 24, 2015 3:19 am

I'm just beginning to experiment with X32 for cue control.
Am I right to assume that currently there is no way to program an X32 button to be a Hot Key trigger?
(Using it as a network device.)

Thanks
Steve

Steve, that appears to be correct when using a network connection. However, if you use a USB connection to the X32 (which you may already have if you are using the X32 as an Audio Output Device in SCS) then you can achieve this using MIDI cue control.

For example, in a recent production I set up a Cue Control device like this (scroll down the image if necessary):
SCS11_X32_CC_MIDI.png
SCS11_X32_CC_MIDI.png (23.58 KiB) Viewed 624 times
On the X32 I used buttons 9 and 10 in Set C for 'Go' and 'Stop Everything' respectively, with button 9 set to send MIDI Note On 9 and button 10 set to send MIDI Note On 10.

But what really applies to your request is button 11. In my SCS cue list I have a hot key cue to 'fade out all playing cues'. This hot key cue is assigned to Key F but I've also assigned it a MIDI Cue Number of 99. On the X32 I have set up button 11 as MIDI Push, Pgm Chg (Program Change), Channel 01, Value 99.

Now when I press button 11 in set C on the X32, this activates my SCS hot key cue to fade out all playing cues.

Thanks Mike. I'll have a play with that.
I hadn't realised that the USB connection gave me a MIDI connection as well as audio!

There is one more setting you may need to change on the X32. Under Setup / Remote, set MIDI Control Interface to 'Card MIDI'. This is because MIDI will be sent via the 'USB Audio Interface' connection, which is the 32-channel card (not via the 'Remote Control USB port). I don't have any of the MIDI Receive or MIDI Transmit checkboxes selected.

Thanks again.
I suspect it will be next week now before I get to try it!
Happy Christmas...

I know I'm probably missing something obvious here, but how/where do you assign a MIDI cue number to a hot key??

See Cue Properties in the Help. The MIDI/DMX Cue Number should be visible if you have set up the MIDI Cue Control device under Production Properties.

Hi we are likely getting a Midas M32, essentially a x32, I old be looking at controlling cues on the desk from SCS so all level changes and mutes / unmutes for the show are just like audio cues, can this be done?
