Animation

Post by Sue Hickson » Tue Oct 13, 2015 10:39 pm

Hi
I have been asked to show a series of short animations (about 10 seconds each). My director wants these to be smaller than the screen (which I can do) and to float slowly down the screen during the animation then fade to the next animation in a different position which will then also float down. He assures me that this can be done in Powerpoint. Can it be done in SCS?
thanks

Unfortunately this is not currently possible in SCS. I say 'currently' because I've had a number of requests for cropping, masking and overall adjustments to suit video projection screens, so dynamically adjusting the image position is a reasonable addition to that planned list of changes.

Meanwhile, what you can do is run PowerPoint from SCS. There's a basic example in the Help under Run External Program Cues.

Hi Sue,

I had to do something similar last year for a play.
The director wanted scrolling title text on the cyc to flag scenes and comment on some of the action.
I made the titles in powerpoint and animated and transitioned them with the timing required, and I also masked the image to the upper part of the display to avoid the text on the actors.
I then saved a copy of the slideshow within Powerpoint as a video clip, eg wmv.
I then cued the animations as video clips in SCS.

I had to do some timing adjustments and text changes as we fine tuned the show, but that was just editing in powerpoint and resaving the video file.

Hope this helps.
