Q Naming

Post by mattcoomber1 » Sun Jul 26, 2015 4:46 am

Hi all, I don't know if this has been asked before but when I name a Q for example Q1 is Telephone and Q2 is Fade Telephone, if I change the name of Q1 to Phone, it doesn't update the SFR Q name so it still says Q2 Fade Telephone rather than the updated title Fade Phone.

It used to update the titles in SCS 10 but I have seen this in all SCS 11 releases including the latest. Is it something I am doing wrong or a setting I don't have selected?

Thanks

Matt

Yes, you're right. On checking SCS 10 and SCS 11 I've found the reason for this. First of all, in SCS 10 if you change 'Telephone' to 'Phone' in Q1 it does not automatically apply the change to Q2, so there's no difference so far between SCS 10 and SCS 11. However, in SCS 10 if you then click on Q2 in the editor, the software development environment used for SCS 10 generated a 'click' event on the 'Cue to be actioned' combobox. That caused SCS to reset the sub-cue and cue description, thus picking up Q1's name change from 'Telephone' to 'Phone'.

The software development environment used for SCS 11 does not generate that click event - and it shouldn't so that's the correct underlying behavior. If in SCS 11 you now click on 'Cue or sub-cue to be actioned' then the description will be reset as per SCS 10.

Obviously the desired behavior would be to have Q1's change of description propagated automatically to Q2 (and/or any other cues that used the old description). I'll look into this.

Hi Mike

Thanks for looking at this for me. It would be great if the Q could automatically propagate later references. As you say if you click on the sub Q that is being actioned it then resets that Q so if you had a fade time set up, it defaults back to a stop.

Regards

Matt
