SCS relay control

Post by Oddjob » Fri Feb 06, 2015 12:36 pm

Hi all,

This is my first post, I have recently taken over the technical responsibilities for the Garrick Theatre in Guildford, Western Australia.

I need a 4 or 8 relay interface that is easily recognisable and controlled by SCS either by midi or other, by USB or com port.

Ideally I would like to purchase in Australia, but overseas is OK.

Does anyone have any positive recommendations and experience with such devices? I know there are midi relay devices available commercially and I am looking at them, however I thought I'd tap the wisdom and experience of the forum.

Thanks
Geoff.

Thanks Boswell and Mookai1973 for the information, I had spotted the highly liquid site and have now found the other boards on ebay.

cheers

Successfully built a 'midi mute system' recently, using this board http://www.robot-electronics.co.uk/htm/midi-rly8.htm. We had the relays open and close the channel inserts on an analogue desk, to 'mute' mic channels and fired the board with SCS. It never missed a beat, even using a £3 USB to Midi adapter.
The board has per channel LEDs to indicate status and an easy config utility.

I have used the highly liquid midi relay boards to make a 16 channel mic mute system. Works flawlessly and easy to programme to receive midi cc info. Not the cheapest, but worked straight out of the box.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have ordered the 8 relay midi board from Robot Electronics in the UK, looks the goods, already have the Roland UM-one midi adapter.

Update.

The board arrived a week or so after ordering, and within minutes I installed the driver and configured the board. Very straight forward.

Recommended, does what I need ideally. SCS drives it flawlessly.

Hi David,

Sorry for the delayed reply, I haven't signed in for a while.

I have the board connected through a Roland UM-One Midi adapter, works well. Let me know if you need help setting up the commands.

Cheers
Geoff.
