Using Quicktime .mov video files - newbie question

Post by TheSpyHusband » Fri Apr 04, 2014 9:17 am

Hi,

I've been using SCS at my theatre group for 2 or 3 years now, but only ever for sound.
We have a production coming up soon and the director wants to use a looping piece of video of sea waves for the preset as the audience come in.
I've got a movie clip from Shutterstock that's a Quicktime .mov file. Will SCS play this? I won't get a chance to try it with SCS until this weekend, and I've had a look through the forum but can't seem to find any info. It's maybe just cos it's late and I'm tired!

If Quicktime is a non-starter, what's the recommended video format to use?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi

Your Quicktime may well not work so I would suggest you download this free video file convertor "MPEG STREAMCLIP" from the following link

http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html

and then convert your quicktime to a MP4 or and AVI movie and that should all work fine.

Let us know how you get on and if you need further help just ask there are many of us using SCS and I'm sure between us we can get you up and running.

That's great Peter, thanks. I'll give that a try.

Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. I've been dying to run video for a while!

Hi
Just as a foot note you may find that you have to close SCS and reopen in order for your video to play on the second screen after you have put the video into your playlist,
after that it will work every time.
