play a random file every XX:XX.XX

Post by jonasgrumby » Wed Feb 10, 2010 12:49 pm

Is it possible to play a random file from a list every set number of minutes or seconds? We are doing 12 Angry Men and in lieu of pre-show music the director wants random announcements that you might hear if you were waiting in a jury selection room.

Ideally, it would even be nice to make the timing interval between files random within a plus or minus range.

This may actually be a feature request, but I'm hoping it's not.

Thanks

That's an interesting idea your director has.

Off the top of my head you could try using 'playlist' . . . . You could put all your announcements in a playlist and in the 'transition' section select 'wait' and put a different time (some short and some long) for each one. If you were going to repeat the announcements you could also check 'continuous play' and 'random play'. Very quick to put together . . . .

Cheers . . . . Martin

Sounds just right Martin. I will try it. Thank you.
