Can't fade pre-show playlist cue w/ SFR cue (fix in 10.6.2)
Hi Mike,
We are using SCS 10.6.0 Build 2009/08/05 14:13
I am trying to set up a typical pre-show playlist cue that can be interrupted by a SFR Fade then Stop cue, but it isn't working. It fades the track that is currently playing but then starts the next track in the list instead of stopping like it's supposed to. If I change the SFR cue to Stop instead of Fade Out then Stop, it behaves correctly but we don't want a hard stop, we want a fade. Any suggestions? I have done this for previous shows without a problem and can't figure out why it won't work this time, unless perhaps it's a bug with this version.
Thank you for any advice

Is your playlist cue a hotkey cue?

Yes it is. I tried to make it a Go Button cue but when I hit the spacebar nothing happened. We typically always use hot keys rather than the Go button.
Re: Can't fade pre-show playlist cue w/ SFR cue
Is the Hotkey set to "Trigger", "Toggle" or "Note"?

I tried all three. I assume the correct setting is Trigger.

Trigger is correct BUT another user reported this problem to me recently and we found it was due to the playlist being a hotkey cue.
You said you tried making it a Go Button cue but when you hit the space bar nothing happened. Make sure you have this option set:
Permanent Options / Key Mapping: Function: 'Go' Button, Assigned Key: Space.
This was made the default mapping at version 10.6.0 since so many people were manually setting this assignment. So with this assignment there should be no problem with starting cues just by using the space bar, provided the SCS window has focus. (Version 10.6.1 displays a warning on the status line if the window loses focus, and if the window loses focus then hotkeys wouldn't work either.)

Thanks I will be there tomorrow and will try again. Might be worth a try to change the order of the tracks if nothing else works.
I was aware of the Permanent Settings but didn't actually check it because we usually leave it set that way. Good point about the focus.

Changing the order of the tracks won't help. I look into fixing this error, but it seems to be caused by SCS re-opening the cue since it is a hotkey cue.

Re: Can't fade pre-show playlist cue w/ SFR cue
The weird thing is that we have been using SCS for two or three years now and we always have a pre-show playlist hotkey cue, and this has never happened before.
Would checking "Exclusive Cue" help at all w/ the logic that the cue is supposed to fade, complete, and then become unavailable?
BTW is the help file available online? There are times when it seems like it would help if I could read the help file from home.
Thanks

Re: Can't fade pre-show playlist cue w/ SFR cue
This hotkey playlist error is now fixed in 10.6.2 RC4 which is available from the Members' Download page.
There are a couple of options regarding using the Help file on another computer. First of all you can copy the scs_help.chm file to your other computer, and just double-click the file to open it. SCS doesn't need to be installed on that computer. The scs_help.chm file is in the same folder as scs10.exe.
Alternatively, there is a PDF file of the Help available at www.showcuesystems.com/download/SCS10Help.pdf. This is not a properly formatted file, which is why we don't promote it. It has been generated simply by 'printing' to a PDF writer the Help file topics. So the formatting is a bit lax and the within-document links are not implemented by the 'printing' software that we use.

Thanks Mike. BTW I thought I could get around it by setting it to Hot Key Toggle, but when I hit the key again it seemed to be a hard stop even though I had a fade time entered.

Re: Can't fade pre-show playlist cue w/ SFR cue
Just FYI, I tried Hot Key Toggle again and it did fade but it also went to the next track after the fade like the Hot Key Trigger did. I changed it to a Go Button cue and it will be fine for this show. I also upgraded us from 10.6.0 to 10.6.1 while I was there.
Thanks
