Anybody run SCS on a netbook? Flash memory or hard drive? Audio files on an external hard drive or USB key?
Just wondering, we don't have much room in the control booth, and a netbook would fit, but don't want to buy it if it's going to be problems. I'm also wondering about the speed of loading a cue if the netbook has a solid state drive and the audio file has to be stored on an external USB drive or an external hard drive.
thanks,
Paul
Netbook?
Re: Netbook?
SCS 10 runs just fine on the little ASUS eeePC 701 (the version that came with Win XP installed). I've run music tracks and shorter FX from both the SSD and a little SD card in the slot - not USB. The screen on those little eePCs are too small for SCS to fit nicely, but it works fine with a bit of scrolling. It would be just the thing for playback on a parade float or similar moving platform - no vibration-sensitive HDs. I've not run more than the internal soundcard plus a 2-channel external USB sound card though. The more recent eeePCs have larger screens for not much bigger case-size.

Thanks for the reply, Nick....if I might ask, which 2 channel external USB soundcard are you using?
