Clicks when playing multiple cues.

Post by john-tapas » Mon Sep 08, 2008 11:59 pm

I am getting a significant click when a second cue is auto started whilst another is still playing.
This also seems to happen if one cue ends, before another that is playing.

Playing either cue on its own is fine.
I have put fades in SCS but this has no effect.

I am using 10.1.2
The file was created in ver 9 and was fine.
I had also tried this during beta testing of 10 and I don't recall any problem.
I have also tried two sound cards and used ASIO drivers. All seem the same.

Do you only get the click with auto-starts, or does it also occur if you manually start a second cue while another is playing?

Hi Mike

Yes I think this can happen for manual or auto start. Just hadn't had any manual cues that ran over another.

A few other observations;-
i have now loaded SCS onto laptop and do not get the problem.
I get the impression the problem goes away after a few cues have been played.
If I then close SCS and re-start the problem returns, and once again goes away after a while.

Hope this helps

cheers

John

Seems like a file buffering issue. You could try increasing the playback buffer and prebuffer sizes in the Audio Driver Options in SCS. The default setting for SCS 10 are 200ms. Try increasing this to 300ms and see if that helps. The drawback in increasing these buffer sizes too much is that it affects how long it takes for level and pan changes to take effect. See the Help file for more info on the Audio Driver Options.

Hi Mike

The buffers are both set to 500mS. I presume these values were imported when I upgraded from 9 to 10.
i am not too worried, as the show computer works fine. I know that I probably have too many things going on on home PC, but i have to share it with my partner if I'm to be allowed to 'play' with sound. If no one else is having this problem then I will see if I can shut down some of my background tasks!

Cheers

John
