Fade and stop all cues without repositioning?(Mod in 10.2.0)
Fade and stop all cues without repositioning?(Mod in 10.2.0)
I've only been using SCS for a couple of weeks now, and cannot figure this one out from the Help info...
I'd like to define a hot-key that fades and stops all running cues; that is, one that works like the ESCape button with a fade. I tried defining a SFR cue that 'Fades and stops' for 'all previous cues'. The problem with that is that the current position in the run list is lost. I'd like the position to remain on the current cue or advance to the next.
Is there another way to accomplish this with a single key press?
Thanks!

Re: Fade and stop all queues without repositioning?
hmmmm, i have tried what you have asked and set up a Manual Que which would fade all cues if pressed, but like you say it jumps to the end of the cue list, so i agree it would be great to have what you say as an option. What i would suggest for now is that if you again set up a manual cue to trigger a fade all previous cues, then as the track is fading you can very easily using the mouse click the next cue you would like to go from. hope that helps!

Re: Fade and stop all CUEs without repositioning?
(Sorry, Guess I had trouble spelling 'cues' on the prior subject line!)
Right, I end up having to scroll back through the list to find and click the next cue. Sometimes difficult when something unexpected causes you to hit fade/stop in the first place.
Thanks.

Re: Fade and stop all cues without repositioning?
This is a design bug. A fix is now ready for 10.1.3 which I expect to release in a few days. In 10.1.3, if an SFR cue acts on 'all earlier cues' and the SFR cue is assigned to a hotkey, then 'all earlier cues' is interpreted as 'all cues earlier than the next manual start cue'. On completion of the SFR hotkey, the cue list will stay positioned at the 'next manual cue'.
Re: Fade and stop all cues without repositioning?
Mike, That sounds great, and would generally serve my purpose. However, I would prefer an option to fade&stop ALL running cues, whether they appear in the list before or after the current position.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Fade and stop all cues without repositioning?(fix in 10.1.3)
Yikes! Mike, you just broke my awards ceremony program with this fix.
I had only a pre-show and fade pre-show as manual cues. All other music clips are hotkey'ed, to be played as the winner is announced. Then I use hotkey 'Z' to fade out whatever is playing.
With 10.1.3, now I have to manually click through to the "END" cue in order for the fade hotkey to work.
As mentioned by SWOOLEY, adding a "Fade All Running Cues" option would provide me with an option to do what I want.
And I didn't realize that an SFR hotkey cue would reposition the current cue on the cue list ... when you hit an audio file hotkey cue it doesn't reposition, so why should an SFR hotkey cue?
Thanks. John

Re: Fade and stop all cues without repositioning?
Hmmm. I see the issue, and thanks, John, for the extra info sent by email. The 'fix' applied in 10.1.3 should work for running cues that are not hotkey cues, provided you don't go back in the cue list, but where the 'fix' fails to perform the expected action is where a running cue is a hotkey cue, as that cue is probably further down the cue list than the 'next manual cue'.
I'll work on a change to add "All Running Cues" as an option to SFR cues.

Re: Fade and stop all cues without repositioning?
Just to clarify, my thoughts on the fundamental nature of hotkey-fired cues:
* unlike other firing methods, hotkey fired cues have no concept of sequence or position in the program. They can be fired at any time with any combination of other cues being active or not. Therefore:
- hotkey cues have no notion of "earlier cues" ... they only have the notion of "currently playing cues". Therefore the SFR option of "fade all earlier cues" makes no sense for a hotkey SFR cue. The option "fade all currently playing cues" does make sense.
- hotkey cues really do not belong in the main cue list, since they have no real "position" in the list. Since they have to be put on the list somewhere to be included in the program, I personally always place them at the end of the list and number them starting with 900, just to keep them out of the way and avoid confusing them with the ordered cues in the program.
- hotkey cues should not affect positioning of the "next cue" in the cue list.
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks. John

John,
I agree with your take on hotkey cues 100%.

"All Running Cues" added to SFR cues in 10.2.0.
