I have a 4 channel audio device (Novation Nio 2/4) http://www.novationmusic.com/products/a ... es/nio_24/ and I'd like to be able to use both stero pairs controlled from SCS.
I used it with version 9, with only the first pair and was very impressed by both the interface and by SCS. It looks like the only way to access both pairs is by using the ASIO driver and so great news that v10 supports ASIO.
I've been to Production Properties and sure enough there is a device called "Novation USB ASIO driver". When I select it, it happily drivers the first pair of channels however, I can't see a way to select the second pair. If I use the ASIO driver in something like SAW, I get two ASIO devices, one for each pair but that isn't replicated in SCS. Am I missing something?
Thanks
Barny

Re: ASIO driver
You should be able to use the 'Speakers/Outputs' field in the Production Properties to select the other outputs. I suggest you select 'Outputs 3/4' etc rather than 'Rear/Side' etc, if you are only playing mono and stereo files.
Re: ASIO driver
Thanks for the quick reply. That looked like a great solution, I hadn't scrolled down that far. BUT the behaviour is a bit funny:
In SAW Studio, the method of device selection is a bit different; first I have to select ASIO as a driver model which leads to an option to select the "Novation ASIO USB driver" from a list of installed ASIO drivers (this is the same description that appears in the SCS device selection drop down). After that I have the chance to select each ASIO device (channel pair) and allocate it to a channel in SAW. So it looks like SCS is only allowing me to select a driver, not the individual device with the driver. Not sure if that helps???
- When I send the test tone to the device with speaker selection "Output 3/4", it still comes out of 1 and 2.
- When I play a cue that sends to 1&2 and 3&4 I get signal on 1&2 but nothing on 3&4.
- When I play a cue with channels 3&4 only, I still get it only on 1&2
- In the playback screen, there is no VU meter for the device that sends to 3&4 but when I send to it, the level shows up on the 1&2 device meter.

Re: ASIO driver
An update on this from an email I received from Barny: "it now works fine, the outputs are routed as per the speaker selection and there are 3 VU meters (including the on-board that I though I'd try) on the display. Out of interest, I reinstalled the non-tracing version and that also works fine. I wonder if restarting the laptop has made a difference."
Possibly there was a fault in the original SCS 10 install, so re-installing SCS may be what fixed the problem.
