Resume (with fade in) on Playlist Hibernated (in 10.1.1)

Post by paul3263 » Thu Jul 31, 2008 5:26 am

New version 10.1.0

Lets say Q1 is a start pre-show play list.
Q2 is Stop playlist with fade to Hibernate
Q3 is Resume from Hibernate with Fade in

The level did not change because Playlist has no fade in time so all you get is silence. I tried adding a Level Cue as a sub cue but it seemed to assume the original level and the track started at original Level with no Fade in.

Temporary Solution.

Q1 is a start pre-show play list.
Q1.5 Level Change Q1 to silence.
Q2 is Pause Q1 to Hibernate Auto-start at end of Q1.5
Q3 is Resume from Hibernate
Q4 is Level Change Q1 to original levels, auto-start at end of Q3

Related problem.
When using first senerio with a Audio File Cue. If Fade-in = 0 the file will Resume but will be silent, if you add a Fade-in time to original track the Level Jumps to Original level with out Fade-in.

Also on this,
if you resume the playlist with fadein, the level stays at zero as detailed above, if you wait until the track ends it should play the next track in the playlist but it just exits the cue.

I'll add a new field for the playlist fade in time. An alternative workaround is to turn on 'continuous play', provided you have a cross-fade or similar transition on the last file in the playlist. However, the problem of the playlist exiting at the end of the track (after a resume) still exists.

Working on a fix...

Mike one problem with a Fade-in time on a Playlist is you don't usually have a Fade-in on music when you first start. It might be best to use the Fade-out time on the Resume so when you first start the playlist you won't have to contend with a Fade-in when you don't want it or maybe a separate return from Hibernate fade-in (too much). Also for some reason if you were Hibernating a Audio-cue and did a Resume with fade-in, the Audio file JUMPS to the original level with out a fading up. The Workaround does work, using a crossfade and the same time as the Fade-out.

OK, I think the solution is to implement a feature that's been requested a few times: a "Time Override for Fades" field in the SFR cue. I will still add the "Playlist Fade-In Time" field to the Playlist cue, but in your case you would leave that field blank so that the playlist starts without a fade in. In the SFR cue for the Resume Hibernating Cue you would enter the time you want for the fade-in for when the playlist resumes from hibernation.

This new "Time Override for Fades" field will also be available for fade outs of audio file cues, so if you set this override field then this time will override any fade out time specified for the nominated cue(s).

Fix/Mod ready for 10.1.1. Playlists will have an optional fade-in time (as well as the existing optional fade-out time), and SFR cues will have an optional 'fade time override' field which if set will set or override the corresponding fade time for fade-outs, hibernates, and resumes from hibernation.
