Hi All,
Is anyone running SCS on an Intel Mac, using windows running under either BootCamp or Parallels? Hows it going, any difficulty accessing USB or Firewire audio devices?
While I wouldn't consider using a Mac as a show machine, it would be nice to be able to do offsite programming and rehearsals etc with the mac laptop I use for 'office' tasks - save carrying two machines sometimes.
Cheers,
nick

Re: SCS on a Mac
My development machine is an iMac running Parallels, but I do most of my testing on a Vista laptop. I can't get Windows under Parallels to recognise anything on the USB port, but I haven't really persisted with trying. I'm using Parallels 2.something. I didn't upgrade to version 3 since they released it just after I bought version 2 and then wanted to charge me extra to upgrade. I've heard reports that VMWare is a better product, but can't personally comment as I've never tried it.
Apart from the USB issue, SCS runs fine under Parallels, but I'd never rely on it for a production.

I'm on the german version of Parallels 2, Build 3224.I can't get Windows under Parallels to recognise anything on the USB port, but I haven't really persisted with trying.
Some builds had trouble to auto-connect USB-devices to the virtual machines.
On [Geräte/USB], maybe [Devices/USB] in the english version, you have to check-mark the device, you want to use on the Windows-machine.
Maybe that helps.

Re: SCS on a Mac
I had the chance to check SCS 10.1.3 on an Intel Mac and Bootcamp together with Digidesign's DIGI002R.
We're using only the ADAT-outs of the 002R, so I didn't check outs 1 to 8 and 17+18.
After restarting SCS, the test-tones worked on all stereo-channels we use quite well.
Then I tried to re-programme a show, we normally use Ableton's Live for.
The stereo-files just worked.
On one cue, when there are two stereo-files linked together, going to different stereo-paired-outputs, only the first stereo-file in the cue-list got to it's output. The second file, although running (as from it's positioning-slider in SCS's cue-list) didn't appear on it's output.
But I have to examine this with other files in deep.
Another thing, which didn't work, was that there where no MIDI-ports at all.
I will have to check on another machine.

Re: SCS on a Mac with Digidesign-Hardware, using ASIO
I checked the same SCS-file on a Windows XP-only Toshiba-laptop, which I sat up fresh from zero.
The MIDI-ports work on the Toshiba, so there must be some kind of installation-bug or whatever on the Bootcamp-Mac.
I'll examine this later this week by re-installing Windows XP and ProTools and etc. on this mashine.
But:
both the Toshiba and the Mac just play the first one of the mentioned linked stereo-files, when using the ASIO-drivers.
The slider is moving, but there's no sign of the audio, not even on the SCS-meters of that output.
The output works, as I used it on a cue previous to the linked-stereo-files-cue.
On some, very rare occations, I managed to get audio from the second stereo-file by stopping or pausing and then re-starting the linked files, but this was not reproducable at all.
Sometimes it worked, but on the other 90% it didn't.

Re: SCS on a Mac
I just tested SCS on an Intel Mac running Sun's VirtualBox which is free. No problems whatsoever with installation and running the demo with the built in sound. I'll try some other tests using external sound device and midi.
