I have a major issue with SCS. The application constantly crashes out after a random amount of time and at seemingly completely random places.
Our system has 4 soundcards which are controlled by SCS, a Creative Soundblaster Audigy, a CMedia CMI8738, a Creative Soundblaster Extigy External USB and the onboard Realtek HD Audio Soundcard.
The systems is totally stable and can be left on for hours at a time, it only starts to crash when we run SCS. It crashes out to a BSOD stating TRAP_CAUSE_UNKNOWN as the error which i have reasearched only to find out that it basically means an unknown error has occured. Here is a copy of the complete debuglog i generated using the MS Debug Tools

I know the debuglog points to SCS as the problem but i am not convinced, i think it is prob being caused by one of the drivers for the sound card which SCS is using, unfortunatly i am not a software expert and would not know how to dig any deeper to find out if that is the case and if so which driver is the problem.
I am totally at my wits end with this now and i really need some help from an expert.
Thanks in advance

Re: SCS constantly crashes
I've emailed you directly regarding this matter. An SCS trace log should help.

Re: SCS constantly crashes
Also make sure that "IF" you are running Windows XP you have the latest (and MATCHING) updates for both the OS AND the sound cards (ESPECIALLY the onboard Realtek HD Audio Soundcard). Drivers keep changing and manufacturers often change chip sets in mid-production because they get a better price on them (I ordered 12 IDENTICAL computer for computer center for the blind and they need to be able to run a particular speech reader. 9 of the 12 did. After tearing our hair out, we found out the chip sets were not the same on the three "newest machines" were not the same as the other 9; so they took them back and found us three "older" machines).
If you're running Vista - the above also applies; and if drivr updating doesn't work, consider regressing backwards to XP which most of us find a stabler platform.
Running 64 bit is a whole 'nother kettle of worms - driver wise. Sure, you can access more than 3 GB of memory; but at what cost of stablity? I've often had to run identical programs on 32 & 64 bit machines and was not able to get audio out of the 64 bit machine through either the onboard RealTek or a PCI sound card (the only thing that would work consistantly work was a USB thumb drive-looking soundcard).
So bottom line is to make sure all updates match and are up to date; and whenever possible uninstall the previous driver before installing the new one(s).
