Audiofire 8 interface with cardbus firewire adaptor

Post by TomLishman » Sun Apr 06, 2008 10:22 pm

Dear All,
I'm about to purchase an Echo Audiofire 8 interface and a cardbus firewire 400 adaptor to use with SCS running on a laptop, which has a type 2 cardbus slot (ie 32bit). Any advise please on these two areas:

I know that some multi-output interfaces don't offer all their outputs to DirectX, and thus to SCS. Does the Audiofire driver allow SCS to use all its outputs?

Echo recommend a firewire port using a Texas Instruments chipset, and I ideally want one with a six-pin not four-pin connector, so I can power the interface from the bus. Anyone know which models of cardbus firewire adaptor would be suitable?

Anyone using a similar setup with SCS, with good or bad opinions of it?

Many thanks in advance
Tom
