SCS 9.1.5 and ESI Maya44 USB or GigaPort AG

Post by hdavidb » Thu Mar 06, 2008 7:11 pm

Has anyone had any experience with SCS 9.1.5 and the ESI Maya44 USB or GigaPort AG? I am considering purchasing one of the ESI interfaces and was wondering if they will work properly for addressing cues to specific outputs. I can't seem to find any other information via web search regarding SCS and their products. I know the version of SCS I have is old, but it's not given me any problems as of yet. Any suggestions?

I bought the Gigaport Ag for use with SCS then found out 2 things against it.
1. You can only obtain the 8 outputs using ASIO drivers which SCS does not yet support. (promised for V10)
2. It is a USB1 interface so it might be a bit slow when the time comes to drive 8 channels. Gigaport do not intend releasing a USB2 version at the moment.

I gave up and bought a cheap USB2 7.1 interface and that runs OK using WDM drivers and SCS 9.5.2, gives me 4 stereo outputs
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. I recently upgraded to version 9.5.2 out of necessity for the theatre and myself. I found a cheap alternative to the ESI which gives me more options to work with, a SoundBlaster 24Bit external USB. With a few tweaks to the options, I now have full addressing of 6 channels for less than $50 from the local big-box computer retailer. Currently using it on my laptop with excellent results on the show I'm running now with approximately 50 sound cues/24 sub-cues. We're looking to install a permanent rackmount system with a firewire interface in the near future if all goes well with the donations/grants we've been getting.
