Multiple outputs

Post by kmsflyer » Wed Jan 09, 2008 5:22 pm

This is a silly question but, how many outputs does sound cue system support, snd how do you assign them? I need an eight output set-up, running off my laptop. There are a few eight output devices available.
Everything louder than everything else

SCS Professional supports up to 8 output devices overall (ie per production), with up to 4 devices per audio file sub-cue. SCS Professional Plus supports up to 16 devices per production, with up to 8 devices per audio file sub-cue.

A "device" may typically be a stereo pair, so with SCS Professional that may give you access to 16 speakers per production and 8 speakers per audio file sub-cue. Double these numbers for SCS Professional Plus.

The actual devices you see in the Production Properties "Physical Device" dropdown list depends not only on what devices you have but how they have been configured. If you have an 8-output device you may find it best to configure it as 4 stereo pairs, which is quite likely the default configuration anyway.

8 Channel Soundcard

Post by Boswell » Sun Feb 24, 2008 6:54 am

I've just bought from Ebuyer.com a USB2 7.1 soundcard called Asonic, Model CM106, Around £13.80 delivered.

Plugged it in to My XP SP2 laptop, did not load the supplied drivers.
XP found it and loaded its own drivers.
Tried SCS and it works fine giving me 4 stereo outputs,
The channel assignments in SCS are a bit strange to avoid crosstalk but it works.
Just make sure you plug it into the same USB port each time!

Only complaint is that outputs are on 3.5mm stereo jacks, but at this price, know I know it works I can get the soldering iron out and convert to Phono.
I have not tried any of the mic or line inputs as I do not require them.

This will do me until SCS10 and ASIO drivers so I can use a better card with balanced outputs.
regards
