SCS not responding until I minimize then maximize the Window

Post by Dannyboy » Sat Nov 25, 2006 3:37 am

Hi

Wonder if anyone can help. I'm running SCS 9.2.7a from my laptop (Toshiba / XP Pro SP2 / Pentium 4 2.66GHz / 240mb Ram) and something strange keeps happening.

I can work away until my hearts content until I select a cue on the main screen. I can then do nothing apart from select other cues or right click to start the cues. Can't even close the window or select the File or Option menu's. After a little playing I found that when I minimized the window from the task bar (as the minimize button top right corner of the screen doesn't work) when Maximized it works fine - until I select another cue again. The same thing happens in the Editor screen. If I click into a box the screen then freezes and I have to click on the 'add a cue' button again. It tells me that I have to enter a description for the current cue first, and then it seems to spring to life.

Sorry, garbled description, but confusing to explain. :? Can't send a screenshot as the screen actually looks fine - although I can't select anything. SCS works fine on my home computer, just strange on my laptop.

If anyone can offer any advice, I would be very greatful.

Regards

Dannyboy

Could be a RAM problem. SCS v9 requires 256Mb RAM. It wouldn't work properly on my laptop until I increased the memory to 256, and now it runs perfectly.

I suggest you try 9.1.7 on the laptop. One of the issues that some users have reported in 9.2 is excessive memory usage when activating the Editor. I haven't previously heard of any such issues on the main screen, but I'm confident 9.1 will run OK on your laptop.

Thank you Jack and Mike. Very kind of you both to reply so quickly.

I see that I can download SCS 9.1.7 from the member's area. I think that I have a user name and password for 9.1 but if not should I follow the instructions at the bottom of the members area?

Also, if I prepare the show on SCS 9.2.7a, will 9.1.7 be able to open it? Would it be safer to prepare on the older version as well?

Thanks again
