Can SCS run a USB Microphone pluged directly into computer

Post by AStirk6076 » Wed Sep 04, 2024 9:59 pm

Hello all in the hive mind,

I have had SCS for quite a few years and I love it. I am now starting to expand my knowledge and seeing wht it can do in a more advanced way.

As the title asks, can i run a USB microphone directly into the computer running SCS and controll it through "the LIVE INPUT" Cue / or other setting.
I have purchased and downloaded the SoundMan server software and still nothing seems to talk through SCS.

THe USB Mic works in the computer via Sound Recorder / Audacity. I am obviously missing something, however I dont know what....
My next option is to buy a MIDI device controll pad and see if that works ???

thank in advance for any assistance.

SCS plays back audio files through Soundman as Wav files, it does not support live inputs. You will need to refer to the Soundman user manual on how to set up live inputs.

Correction to the above - SCS does support mic inputs via Live Inputs but I haven't used this feature for many years since using digital mixers. I now control mics via MIDI control send commands to the digital mixer.

However, if you want SCS Live Inputs to control your mics but cannot get this working, then please email us a relevant SCS log file. Log files are created and saved in a folder named "SCS Logs" under "Documents", and the name of each file includes a time-stamp indicating when the log started. Email the file to support@showcuesystems.com. Also email us the corresponding SM-S log file, which will be in the folder 'SoundMan Logs' under Documents.
