Audio playback issue

Post by dalx » Sat Jun 27, 2020 6:37 pm

I have just upgraded our PC from Windows 7 to 10.
With Windows 7, SCS Pro was getting along fine, however, when playing back any audio now, massive clicks and pops are heard nearly constantly.
All audio files are affected, irrespective of level.
I am using a Behringer X32 rack audio mixer using the X-USB card, configured as ASIO using BASS, exactly the same settings as previous Windows 7.
Running SCS on the standby laptop (Win 10) in the same mode is fine.
As far as I can see, all the settings are the same.
The PC is about 15 years old, 64 bit, 8gb ram.
Is the PC past it's use-by date and not capable of SCS on Win 10?
Or is there a setting some where that I have overlooked?
Any help would be appreciated.
If I can't readily find a solution, then a PC upgrade might be in order, probably the best option.

Thanks
Geoff.

I don't have access to an X32 at the moment, but have you tried increasing the ASIO buffer size in the X32 Control Panel?

Thanks for the reply Mike.
Yes I originally tried various settings with no success.
Yesterday I returned to the the theatre to find that all was fine, so I am scratching my head.
The PC was donated by a university as redundant equipment, I believe it could be nearly 15 years old, so it is going to be replaced.
regards
Geoff.

Hello Geoff,

since Your PC is 15 years old, it is very likely Your problems are caused by a harddisk which has reached it's final hours.
