Firing cues on a Hog-4 lighting console

Post by Heptagon » Sun Feb 23, 2020 8:44 am

I have a show with multiple highly clustered lighting and sound cues.

I planned to use midi from the SCS to the Hedgehog lighting console, but now find (at bump-in, so time is critical) that the low-end Hog doesn't have midi input - despite what the manual says. (Another $900 dongle would be necessary)

Can anyone advise whether there is another protocol I can use? (e.g. OSC) And what hardware I will need to connect?

Thanks

I suppose the question is is the Control Send Cues (CSC) suggested in the SCS manual the same as Open Sound Control (OSC) as mentioned in the Hog4 manual?
Alternatively, has anyone ever done this?

Hello,

a quick look into the manual available online shows, that every standard usb- MIDI device will work, since the Hog runs with windows.
If You want to use OSC, find out the IP and used port of the Hog.
In SCS, open the device manager, open Control send tab, and add a new network device. Call it "Hog", if You like. Select "other OSC device". Enter login data below, if necessary. Apply changes and save.
You can now add control send cues to the cue list. Select the Hog and select commands from the drop down menue.

Have fun

Thank you for the replies, but now, when I open production properties > devices > control send, there are only 3 options present:
MIDI out
Midi thru
RS232 out

Do I need to plug in something to get network out? and if so, what?

The Hedgehog has (according to the specs (I can't get access until next bump-in to check):
a. Two (2) Universal Serial Bus ports
b. Two (2) 5-pin XLR DMX outputs
c. Two (2) Gigabit Ethernet connections, allowing for Fixture Net capability and future upgrade to Hog Net.
d. One (1) DVI-I connector for future upgrade to external monitor/touchscreen support

A log file will have been created and saved in a folder named "SCS Logs" under "Documents", and the name of the file includes a time-stamp indicating when the log started. Please email me a relevant log file.
