Video Cues jump to end (not playing)

Post by chrisoleary » Fri Feb 08, 2019 6:16 pm

Hi,

We are using SCS 11.7 at our community theatre and have recently installed it onto a windows 10 machine. I have never had issues with video files in the past, but am now having an issue where every video cue, of any length, jumps straight to the end of the video and just flicks a quick image on the screen for a nano-second.
eg. I have a 30 second .mp4 file of flying through a starfield. When the cue is started the image of the start of the video flashes briefly to the second screen (a 7 x 4m HD LED screen) and then blacks out. Watching the cue progress in the SCS monitor it jumps from the start of the file to the end of the file as the cue is started ... that is it doesn't play. If check the "pause at the end of the file" option in video it will jump straight to the end of the file and pause the final frame on screen. I have also tried setting the in and out times of the video to start a few seconds in and this hasn't helped.

I can play these files in media player and VLC, so it's not codecs and is something in SCS.

I have installed the latest video codecs for 64bit W10, as well as the latest LAV files per the forums here (downloaded and installed this morning) but nothing seems to work. I have also tried .wvv and .avi versions of the video files, as well as other .mp4, .wmv and .avi files, and the same issue is happening.

Any suggestions on what the issue could be? Or where I should look?

Thanks in anticipation
Chris

If you're using SCS 11.7.1.3 or later then a log file will have been created and saved in a folder named "SCS Logs" under "Documents", and the name of the file includes a time-stamp indicating when the log started. Please email me any relevant log files.

Thanks for the quick response Mike. I have emailed a log file and screenshots of the options for video to your email address.
Cheers

Hi Mike,
Just doing some more testing.
With video cues jumped to the end of the file I can manually pull the playhead slider back to start and click play button and it plays (doesn’t obey the stop time set in the cue eg. stop 15 seconds in).
I have also found that I can set up a toggle key that performs a pause function. If the video starts playing I can pause it by toggles but not by timed sub-cues.

Neither are ideal as the audience will see the jump to the end of the video then restarting again (rarely runs on the first hit of the playhead). So too much juggling.

Thought this might be of interest.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Mike,

Some further testing and I’ve found the problem.

The video will play as long as the Video Audio device is set the same as the Audio device.
In our setup we have Audio going out through soundblaster, but the Device Map has Video Audio set to Default. As soon as I change it to soundblaster the video plays.

I think I would call this a big as you may want to play audio through a second device, but not important for us.

Thanks
Chris
