Re: Netbook?
SCS 10 runs just fine on the little ASUS eeePC 701 (the version that came with Win XP installed). I've run music tracks and shorter FX from both the SSD and a little SD card in the slot - not USB. The screen on those little eePCs are too small for SCS to fit nicely, but it works fine with a bit of s...

Re: hot keys - key-on key-off
well... we've been talking about hotkey cues - and being able to play or loop playback as long as the hotkey is held down ("Note" mode) or Toggle it to play and stop on successive presses. In recent versions of SCS you can assign a Midi Trigger to a Hotkey cue. Would the new "Note" mode as described...

Re: hot keys - key-on key-off
My vote is definitely "Trigger" "Note" and "Toggle". Very standard terminology. Can you actually trap a continuously-held keyboard key? And - would these options work with external MIDI control? That would be excellent...

Re: Midi Triggering Problem (mod in 10.4.1)
Hi Mike, We've just run into exactly the same problem (PM5D sending two Note On messages, one with Vel=0 when the button is raised) causing double-triggering on one of our running shows that we've just upgraded from an earlier version of SCS 9, to SCS 10.4.0. We'll update it to 10.4.1 when we get a ...

Re: networking and trigger
Hi Sparky, We simply use a KVM Extender system sold under the "ATEN" brand (though there are many of them out there). It is a little box that inserts between the booth computer and its Keyboard/Monitor/Mouse, and then connects via cat-5 to another Keyboard/Monitor/Mouse on the production desk. You c...

Re: Midi Crashing SCS10.1.0
Hi Fernando, I have discovered the same thing in production this week - and reported it to Mike on Tuesday. I found however that you can fix it if when you start SCS, and BEFORE sending any MIDI to the attached MIDI interface (whether it is aimed at SCS or not), do the following. Go straight into th...

SCS on a Mac
Hi All, Is anyone running SCS on an Intel Mac, using windows running under either BootCamp or Parallels? Hows it going, any difficulty accessing USB or Firewire audio devices? While I wouldn't consider using a Mac as a show machine, it would be nice to be able to do offsite programming and rehearsal...

Re: Noise over my file
Hi Neil, Sorry - no idea where your noise is coming from, but one thing to check: SCS is able to remember and force the recall of the settings from your computer's software audio mixer so as any adjustments you made while VOIPing last night or whatever don't affect your sound playback. Maybe it has ...

Re: Midi Show Control Help
Hi wombat, yeah - if only all other companies were as responsive as Mike Daniell! I don't know your lighting board, but does it have any way of connecting an external GO button? If so, a quick-and-nasty workaround would be to send normal MIDI note messages out of SCS to a Midisolutions Relay box, an...

Re: Backup SCS computer
Most systems for the larger Musicals use a Console with it's own computer & software running a master cuelist. This sends MIDI to the two SCS computers via a MIDI Thru box of some kind. I personally don't like the backup to be in any way connected to the main computer for purposes of tracking. When ...

I find that the main source of noise experienced with internal soundcards in Laptops (and even worse in many desktops) is some sort of data buss noise relating to the operation of the Hard Disk, sounding a bit like very quiet Modem signal. It starts and stops with the drive activity. I've not found ...

MIDI Suspend button (in 9.4.2)
Hi Mike, I've mentioned this before (a while ago now), but it would still be nice if you could have a screen button that simply suspends or blocks and MIDI coming in or out of SCS - so if you were triggering SCS externally and didn't want a cue to fire at a particular point in rehearsals, say, you c...

Daniel, The way I'd suggest is to set up your multitrack playback device to accept Midi Machine Control or MSC Locates. Each backup version is recorded one after the other, (simply playing it out of SCS into the recorder, usually) and SCS uses a Midi subcue to send Locate & Play commands to fire the...

We use the MOTU range (specifically the 828 MkII, which is available as either USB2 or Firewire) and the Ultralite. These give you up to 10 analog outputs (for the 828) plus more in the digital world. You can even address the headphone socket separately from SCS. They run just fine, as long as you c...

Hi Dave, That's a good question - and the thing that takes the longest to explain to new users here (given the program is so easy to use!). It is also one of the most useful features of SCS. Basically, a Cue is a triggerable (or Cueable) command or set of them. You can fire a cue at the appropriate ...
