Consistent Sound Levels when building sound effects

I know this only has a little to do with SCS, but I'm going to ask anyway. I use my laptop with headphones to build my sound effects, using Goldwave. I have them at a certain volume that sounds good when I build it, but then, as expected, the volume needs to be raised quite a bit when fed through SC...

EQ training

Sorry if this is off topic, but since this is the largest group of sound techs I have happened upon in one place, I thought I'd ask. I am the 'resident sound expert' for my local theatre group. I have been asked to pass on some of my knowledge so I can get a break once in a while. I definitely plan ...

Just to update everyone on the outcome of my show:

Unplugging the laptop solved the noise problem. The thunderstorm panned across the stage beautifully, and all of my cues worked!

I am so grateful for this program. I don't know how I could have gotten through this show without it.

Thanks!

Yes, I had the same problem, and unplugging the power cord from the laptop solved the problem.

Just make sure you have enough battery power to last the entire show (or plug in at intermission!)

Laptop. I don't think I have the time or the budget left to get a DI box for this show. However, if that does turn out to be the problem, my laptop battery, when fully charged, has a 2 1/2 hour limit. With the screen dimmed, even more. I'll give it a go tonight. It'll be great to get some gain back ...

I have the PC master volume and wave volume both at about 95%.

I still get some buzz, but I haven't tried lowering the gain and boosting the slider, yet.

If I turn the gain all the way down on the channel, will my FX still come through?

Panning

Hi! I've just started production week for my first show using this software. I am confident it will perform spectacularly. I do have one question. I have several thunderclap effects that I have programmed with SCS to pan left to right to simulate a moving storm. In tech rehearsals I have been trying...

Question about total time displays (in 9.0)

I was wondering...The duration of each cue is displayed in seconds. Is it possible to see the total duration of several selected cues, in minutes and seconds?

Problem with Auto Activate

I just purchased SCS. Great product! Anyway, I am trying to set up a Pre-show program for a stage play. I need each pre-show cue to automatically start 3 seconds after the last one. When I try to enter the cue that precedes the one I'm editing, there is nothing in the box. Shouldn't it list all prev...
