Long run video
Hi- I use SCS extensively, but mostly for audio and show control. As part of the "post-Covid reopening" we have been asked to host an outdoor cinema. I am a bit apprehensive about running a film length video file through SCS- probably 90 to 120 minutes long, 1920 x 1080 resolution. Has anybody had a...

Re: Production properties
This gets a big thumbs up from me.
My students (a fresh batch of new users every year )frequently forget where access to Production Properties is hidden.

Re: Cue timing inconsistencies
Aha ! I missed that it overroad existing fade times. So a SFR uses the Fade Out time from the audio cue, regardless of where in the audio cue the SFR is triggered. I always assumed the Fade Out time only applied when the audio cue ran all the way to the end of the cue. Thanks for the clarification. ...

Cue timing inconsistencies
Mike- thanks for being open to tweaking :-) One thing I found confusing, and new students consistently have issues with in the Editor : In most cue types ( Audio FIle etc.) the timing settings are similar. But in a SFR you have to use " Time Override for Fades" which seems like a different thing, bu...

Re: Lightfactory Telnet commands
Yes you can trigger a specific cue remotely in Light Factory.
Use " Note Triggers" - you can assign a unique MIDI note to trigger a Lightfactory short cut or a command

Re: Is it possible to have audio files default at a different level than -3dB when creating new audio cue?
Also, in the Device Map, the configuration for each audio output device ( i.e. each speaker ) can have a default output level.
I normally set this to -20.
Then any new audio cues you create will use that level as the initial level, specific to each output

Re: Configuring MIDI to a Cognito 2
I have used a single external MIDI adapters ( Roland UM-One for example) as MIDI "IN" and "OUT" , at the same time with SCS.
Check the usual- current drivers etc.
Also SCS isn't happy when you make changes to devices while it is running- i.e. don't swap in or out MIDI adapters while SCS is running.

Winding down record player or gramaphone
For a recent show, we wanted the effect of a gramaphone winding down, but we wan't to be able to call when it happened. So creating a sound file with the "wind down" built in wouldn't work. So : we linked our SCS computer to another PC, via ethernet network. We used a freeware "Midi over ethernet" s...

Midi Time code from SCS to ETC EOS
We had a recent project that brought together a few neat tricks, with SCS as the core software. At an outdoor skating rink, the operator hits a hot key on a keyboard, which starts a cue with a playlist sub-cue in SCS. Another sub-cue starts SCS generating Midi time code from a clock value of "0 minu...

[Fix 11.6.2.1] Serial & DMX monitors cause crash
Running 11.6.2 :
In Cue Control , the Serial and DMX monitor windows, when data is coming in, crash SCS.
Serial Cue Control is working, its just the monitor window that causes a crash

Re: Cue control with serial- syntax conflict
I got it working- thanks for the help. I didn't use your method, but it helped me find what I needed. For future reference : in the Arduino sketch I have a declaration : char Str1[11] = {'s', 'c', 's', 'G', 'o', '(', '"', 'Q', '1', '"', ')'}; Note the "11" sets the number of characters- this may cha...

Cue control with serial- syntax conflict
I am trying to use an Arduino to send serial commands into SCS, to trigger a cue sequence. The problem is that the serial string required " scsGo("x") " , when written into the Arduino code, can't compile , because the double apostrophe and brackets get read as program code, not as part of the seria...

Re: SCS/lighting control tutorial?
Hello- very delayed follow up to my previous post about SCS / Lightfactory interaction. We ( Fanshawe College Theatre Technology, London , Ontario) used SCS with LF on two events this fall. The first was a "Haunted Hayride" in a Pioneer Village. Basically people ride on wagons pulled by tractors aro...

Sorry for the slow response- the pCs involved are on a site I can't get to readily. Once they come back I will make notes of the specific set up and post it

Re: SCS/lighting control tutorial?
I did a test system for an upcoming project, using SCS 11.4 RC4 The new network send feature makes communication between SCS and Lightfactory very easy to configure. I had three laptops , each with SCS and LF. Laptop #1 ( "Master" ) sends "Network Send" commands to LF inside Laptop #1, and over wire...
